Eileen Pronobis Leads Komen Charlotte as New Executive Director

The Susan G. Komen Charlotte Board of Directors has appointed Eileen M. Pronobis, CFRE, as executive director to lead its fight against breast cancer throughout its 13-county service area.

“We are thrilled to welcome Eileen as the new leader of our affiliate,” said Susan G. Komen Charlotte Board President, Honora Gabriel. “Eileen is a highly-seasoned professional who brings a wealth of knowledge and understanding of the non-profit sector to our team.” Pronobis is a visionary leader with an impressive accomplishment in advancing philanthropy and community engagement for organizations. The affiliate will benefit from the enthusiasm and drive she brings as it moves towards its mission to save lives by meeting the most critical needs in our communities and investing in breakthrough research to prevent and cure breast cancer.

Pronobis has extensive experience in strategic planning, implementation and board development, with specialized skills in non-profit management from a 20+ year career as Executive Director for Faxton St. Luke’s Healthcare Foundation in Utica, New York, among other industry roles.  Gabriel says that Pronobis will leverage her unique operational experience to frontline fundraising, increase efficiency and stimulate Komen Charlotte donor engagement. “We trust she will further develop lasting relationships with our sponsors, donors, volunteers and staff, while initiating innovative ways to serve our community and propel us toward our Bold Goal of reducing breast cancer deaths by 50% in the next five years.”

Komen Charlotte and our community in this meaningful way,” said Pronobis, who begins her new role April 6, 2020. “I look forward to building strong community partnerships that will inspire others to join us in providing life-saving treatment support, financial assistance, and resources to breast cancer patients and their families.”

Pronobis has more than twenty years of non-profit experience, holding positions such as Executive Director of Faxton St. Luke’s Healthcare Foundation in Utica, NY, Deputy Director of Philanthropy for Opera Carolina and Chief Development Officer, Greater Charlotte Market, Novant Health Presbyterian Medical Center Foundation. Pronobis is a native of Upstate New York and relocated to Charlotte four years ago to be closer to her children and grandchild. She is an active member of Women Executives of Charlotte, Women’s Impact Fund, Good Friends Charlotte, North Mecklenburg Women’s Club, Association of Fundraising Professionals and Association of Healthcare Philanthropy.

She is also a member of the Healing Dragons of Charlotte, a non-profit, mission based dragon boat racing team with a focus on cancer survivorship. Healing Dragons empowers survivors and supporters to be courageous through the team sport of dragon boating and provides a restorative path to achieve emotional and physical wellness.
